Greetings Friends,

It’s been a good Season coming up with Some interesting topics like this, and so I got an invite from @patjewell who has shared her great library in Ballito, South Africa. It was interesting to read.

So now, I am going to take you on a tour to a special place in my home town. It is actually a little place, I have Said Something about this place Some months ago and for some reason, I choose to feature it again during this Contest.

Do you know why? Because many years ago when I was in high school, I use to like history a lot. And that was how I discovered the place which I want to share with you all now.

For one thing, what I want you to know and what I want to highlight is the story behind the:

  • Amalgamation house in Nigeria
  • The bridge of no return.

The Amalgamation House

The amalgamation house is located in Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. It is supposed to be a popular place in town that tourists visit for the sake of the history of Nigeria.

Of course, before now, many tourists do visit there, but due to poor management, the place became unpopular.

Perhaps, this article could strike the responsible hands to see the need of renovating such a legacy for the future generation and also visitors.

So what is really special about this little place in town?

The amalgamation House was where two entities of Nigeria were joined together, as a matter of fact, that was where Nigeria began.

That was the center where Sir Lord Frederick Lugard, on January 1, 1914, signed a document as evidence proving the merging of the two entities into one, this is one of in the top history in Nigeria till this moment.
The building was an administrative block for all the Official duties carried out in the State.

Both White and black Skin can stay here now without bad thoughts

Alright here is the Sweetest part. The building is just one minute's walk to the Atlantic Ocean where you can appreciate the beauty of Mother Earth.

With the Cool breezing Sound of the Ocean wave, trust me you could spend several hours taking pictures and meditating because the environment is very cool and quiet.

That Building is over 100years, can you believe that? Yeah, that’s what it is.

I wouldn't really like to talk about other things that were done close to the Ocean, but for the sake of history, I’ll say it.

So, very close to the Ocean is the bridge called the bridge of no return. This is where Millions of Folks who are now known as African Americans took off from.

In a nutshell, the slave trade was carried out here. It’s not actually a good story. But the beautiful thing about that place is that right now, both the black and white-skinned color people can have a good time over there with all amount of happiness without thinking of the slave trade.

Isn’t that a place worth visiting?

Well, I think it is.

Thanks For Reading.

@iddy, @adylinah, and @ddwosky could you share your Interesting place following this Contest? Thank you.

Namaste
@unbongudofot ,
I am impressed by your post that while participating in the contest, you have expressed this place in such a way that if the maintenance work is not being done here for a long time. So through this contest, people's interest should be generated from the place of Amalgamation house and maintenance work should start there as soon as possible.

Yes, it is worth visiting, remember when I visited the first story building in Nigeria which was situated in badagry. There I also saw a place where it was tagged as a point of no return, it had been a year though, I don't know if the building still stands..

Good information about this place, we can say this is the origination in Nigeria
