A TRIP TO THE FEDERAL CAPITAL TERRITORY (ABUJA)-MY EXPERIENCE..
A warm greeting to you all my wonderful steemians. It feels so good to be back on this amazing block chain and to be part of this contest. Really had a lot on my table and so I really feel privilege to be part of this contest.
For me, I would say that travelling is part of Education. The more you travel, you get informed about how things are done in a particular state, and you tend to appreciate other people culture, belief and religious practices.
It was my first time travelling so far and it was something remarkable to visit the capital city of Nigeria – FCT Abuja. Travelling to Abuja by land (bus) could really be tiring and excruitiating but I had to go through that because the cost of travelling by Air was something I would say “strictly for the rich”.
The cost of getting to Abuja by land is #11,000 and it take about 10 hours or more to get there by land .such a long drive right, Yeah!
We left the park at about 7:00 am and arrived Abuja by 8:00pm. Wow! that journey was long. You could imagine sitting in the vehicle almost for an entire day, trust me I was exhausted when I got home.
Abuja has lots of beautiful hotels and the most talked about hotel is the Transcript Hilton Hotel..
There are many parts in Abuja, for instance we have the Gwarimpa Estate, Miatama, Wuse, Kubwa, Gwagwalada, etc. I was opportuned to v isit the Gwarimpa Estate, a big and beautiful estate with mind blowing edifice. One thing I loved about that place was the serene environment. In that estate, we have different gate, streets, lanes, avenues where people live. I passed through the Atcan gate and I saw a lot of Nollywood celebreties, upon my inquiry, I was tolda lot of them live in the estste cos it’s one of the expensive place to live in town. I saw the house of the popular charlyBoy, a singer and was amazed to see a power bike hung on his gate, I think he did that to show his affluence and wealth.
Through out my stay in Abuja, there was hardly a time where electricity supply was interrupted, if ever something like that happened, within 5mins, the power supply will be restored so for me life there was kind of cozy but not for all. Those who lived in the outskirt of the town were nit doing very well and so places was more like a rural area for me, little children looked so unkempt, their schools were kind of few but the population was much thereby making learning almost impossible.
Water is gotten from a well except those who could afford to pay the barrow pushers called meruwa’ to get tap water for them. The cost of living in Abuja is quite high and the cost of food items too is expensive especially those food items that is attached to a particular tribe or culture like the Afang leaf, water-leaf, perewinkles, crayfish etc.
There is sufficient pepper, onion, meat, yam tubers, etc. This are the predominant food items in Abuja. They equally have a lot of fruits like mango, orange, Banana, cashew, Cocoa,etc. I couldn't find my favourite fruits there though like the star apple, yellow bush monkey,etc.
During my stay there, I had visited;

It was indeed a wonderful time and yes! I met new friends and tried to learn their language but trust me it was difficult but in all of it, I had a swell time.
At the time I visited I was yet to get my current phone so I couldn't take pictures but for every memory of that place, I treasure it so much.
Hope this article meets you well.
