Leaving behind your old self – an exercise in empowerment

Is your life going nowhere? Do you feel like you need a big change, in direction, in personality, in how you perceive the world. Maybe it's time to wake up your inner butterfly and give yourself a rebirth. Say goodbye to the old you and welcome in a new you.

Saying goodbye is a time for sadness as much a celebration of the new you. Spend some time with yourself, gently reflecting on the old you, how you used to be and why it's time to say goodbye. Thank your old self for the good times and embrace yourself internally. It's time to move on now.

Put on some moving but inspirational music, something powerful that will stir your soul. Here are few recommendations from the movies:

As you listen, visualise your new self, the person you really want to be. Feel that new self entering your body and experience the power and energy that your new self brings into your physical body. You may want to stand with your eyes closed and your arms outstretched as you are reborn into your new empowered self. With belief and commitment to the process you should feel positive energy rushing into your body and it will change you inside, making you feel powerful sense of optimism for what lies ahead.

You might only need to do this once, but feel free to go through the process every now and again, just not too often.
