Best Canadian Exchanges to Get Into Bitcoin / Cryptocurrency and then what?

in #canada7 years ago (edited)

Trying to convert your fiat Canadian dollars 'CAD' into a cryptocurrency and back again? What are the most popular ones? the answer is QuadrigaCX, Coinsquare and Coinbase. QuadrigaCX and Coinsquare are located in Canada and Coinbase is located in the USA.

There are advantages to using a Canadian Exchange over an international one. They are:

  1. Multiple methods to fund your account
  2. Faster deposits and withdrawls
  3. Faster verification

I also recommend that if you are thinking about getting into the cryptospace, you sign up as soon as possible for one of these exchanges and get your verification process completed as it can take 7-10 days or longer. The verification process will require a government ID, Proof of address using a bill and a selfie of yourself holding up a note. This is a Canadian requirement.

So of these three, which one is the best? Odds are if you ask someone what exchange you should sign up under, the answer will be... QuadrigaCX

How do these exchanges compare?

Coinbase no Longer gives Canadian customers the option to exchange into CAD or USD, so to convert to fiat you'll need a QuadrigaCX or Coinsquare account regardless. Therefore, I recommend just going with one of those two to begin with. However, this is an easy to use exchange to get your feet wet into the cryptospace.

Ok so you have some of the big coins and want to enter into other Altcoins!

I'm going to expand upon this further in another article, but for now, the exchange that I recommend currently would be Binance

Binance is located in Hong Kong, China. They trade a large number of big coins and a majority of the smaller AltCoins. They have an extremely easy to use interface accessible through your browser or by downloading the application for your desktop, android or IOS devices. Binance also supports multiple languages allowing for an international presence and currently has 5 million users. Their servers are capable of processing an extremely high volume of orders per second (1.4 Mil) and their fees beat the competition.

Exchange Trading Fees:
  • Binance 0.1%
  • Bittrex 0.25%
  • GDAX 0.25%
  • CEX.io 0.25%
  • Kraken 0.26%
  • Poloniex 0.25%

Binance has had such exponential growth that it has had to close registration to new users to upgrade its backend. They have re-opened new user registrations temporarily and randomly. They have also cut the referral fee bonus share to 20%.

A lot of the exchanges have recently closed registrations as new users flood in. Hopefully you will be able to signup with Binance or another exchange of your choice and have found this writing helpful.
