The God we serve had wired us from the beginning that we succeed, prosper and be satisfied. Indeed, true success is when we are successful in reaching our pre-defined goals. Even God in the beginning after the work of creation saw that all He did was Very Good, then, He rested.

As He created us in His likeness, He expects that we all will get to the stage in our lives that we’ll look back and exclaim that we have finished our course and looking up, we see the glory prepared for us. We can see Paul the apostle and our Lord Jesus Christ as examples.

This blog is meant to open our eyes to the few things that make success a daily and easy task. Using the letters that make up the word “SUCCESS” as acronyms, we can define success as follows:

S - Seeing your purpose;
U - Understanding the obstacles;
C - Creating a positive mental picture;
C - Clearing your mind of self doubt;
E - Embracing the challenges;
S - Staying focused on the track; and
S - Showing the world that you can do it.

1. Seeing your purpose

This is actually the origin of success. Indeed, success means being able to reach the end in view. Before we embark on a journey, there is a place in mind and until we reach there, we have no success in the journey.

One may question that there are fathers of faith like Abraham who actually succeeded without knowing their destination from the outset. Yes, the master planner of his life- God, knew it and He was following God. God remains the architect of our lives, He is the designer and he hold the blueprint (Psalm 139: 139) of our living.

Jesus, our model knew this and in Hebrews 10: 5, 7, 9, he asserted to this fact and sought out his blueprint in the revealed word of God (Luke 4: 18-19) as was prophesized in Isaiah 61. Truly, our goals towards a successful living has been encrypted in God’s word and you must seek it out.

Discovering the purpose of our existence is the beginning of success. Without this discovery, we waste our precious time living others’ dreams. From Bible days, God has been revealing the purpose of men that walked with Him. Several times, He “opens” their “eyes” to “see”. That can be your prayer too, that God may open your eyes to see that which He has called you to do.

Not only will you see where you are going, discovering purpose will also open us up to the right people and other resources that we need to achieve the purpose.

It should be our earnest desire that we see and know the purpose of our living for such is the beginning of success.

2. Understanding the obstacles

Though God has promised us Canaan, a land filled with milk and honey, we will certainly have the red sea, the Jordan, to cross. There will be obstacles on the way, yet we will have to overcome them.
We need to grow to the level of knowledge that we will have to pass through the valleys of the shadows of death. There shall be tribulations, pain, hurts and very many things which their aim is to distract us and make us feel it’s time to stop. This understanding will help us develop the right attitude towards challenges of life.

Knowing the obstacles will help us to develop the right skill and as well engage the right tool to combat them. Some obstacles only need observation, some need warfare, others may require knowledge, thanksgiving, etc.

May we be conscious that the path to success is full of obstacles. We will not retreat, rather, we will overcome them with the consciousness that Christ Jesus is with us.

3. Creating a positive mental picture

Purpose revealed to us must be SEEN. The analogy of our end and future must become clearly visible. God wants us to picture our future. Seeing it will build the energy within us that it is achievable. Bing able to create the mental picture is to help us to be conscious of the end of each step of the journey and to be able to relate it with the blueprint.

Creating the mental picture is an exercise of faith and it builds in us the confidence that we are not going astray. Our mental pictures serve as the height of motivation that we could ever need to succeed. With it, we day-dream, night-dream, walk-dream, eat-dream and indeed see the tangibility of our future.

Remember, You were Created to Succeed!
