The Genesis Site -A social media UPDATE
I'm writing this mostly for those of you who are involved in social media professionally ..but keeping it simple for everyone because all of us here in Steemit can benefit .
Halt and catch fire
For those of you who are not following this excellent series on AMC , do so , it's insights are invaluable to anyone wanting to use the web as a tool .
So what is The Genesis Site ? The simple answer is it's the site where content originates and where the clickchain ends ! So like all roads leading to Rome , the all clicks lead you to the genesis site .
No very mind blowing Huh ? But wait , lets think about this . Is google a "genesis site" ? Well sort of .. but not really ,you're always heading away from google , they tried desperatley to keep you there , but all their efforts failed as did Yahoo as will Facebook and Twitter and Reddit and Linkdin , which are now satelites of Genesis sites or share sites , we know there's traffic on them so we simply hit the share button on our favourite originator site .
So what is a genesis site , simply it's the site where you focus your posts , your time and your attention . Is Steemit a genesis site ? Well , since it added DTube and DSound yes , It is ! It's the place where you're focus is , where you're posts are aimed at , regardless of it's money spinning capability or it's audience . It is where you are focused . And your posts are focused .

Facebook is the genesis site for some of my posts but I learned that it's a terrible idea... Steemit is (and would be) the genesis of most of my recent posts..
I also have a website (arabic only) where I post the best things I wrote in Facebook... as you see, Facebook encourages you to write fast... my webiste is a blog so it (and steemit) encourages you to write carefully.... that's why I have to edit a lot before publishing anything there...
for Facebook I don't need a lot of editing...
Agreed , the Genesis Site strategy is one which all major web entities have been well aware of for many years although It lacked a formal name . Editing is crucial as is hyping and promoting , people want to feel that they are a part of something that is going somewhere .
