Frying Pan Lake
Frying Pan Lake is one of the world's largest hot pools. Acidic water is heated throughout the year between 50-60 degrees Celsius and its surface is always covered with steam, carbon dioxide and hydrogenated sulfide gas boiling. The lake emerged from a major volcanic eruption in 1886, when the Tauranga Mountain erupted and created several large craters in the area. This was the biggest eruption since the arrival of Europeans.
During the 15 years of eruption, their hot springs were constantly created in the valley of Waimangu. The world's largest hot spring, the Wimingham Fountain, threw hot water for about four kilometers, up to about a half kilometer high. The seeds filled with rainwater and warm underground water formed warm ponds. The lake is one of them and is located at the mouth of the echo. But the lake reached the size and shape of the great eruption of 1917. The lake has a shelf of 38,000 square meters and an average depth of 6 meters. There are elegant siliciclastic deposits and colorful minerals across the lake.
The lake look so beautiful within the green surrounding it. those stems really makes it looks like frying pan.
