Royal resort in Bulgaria

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

Recently I wrote a great post about Bansko. This is the largest and most famous ski resort in Bulgaria, but there are others, and one of them is Borovets, which was formerly called Chamkoria. It is much closer to Sofia than Bansko. Only 73 kilometers away.

Borovets is located on the slope of Rila Mountain at an altitude of 1350 meters above sea level. It is much smaller than Bansko - more intimate and the tracks are closer to the hotels.

The longest ski trail is 12 km, the total length of the trails is 58 km, of which 35 km are ski. There is a night track. There are three ski areas in Borovets: Sitnyakovo, Yastrebets and Markudzhik.

Borovets is the oldest ski resort in Bulgaria. It is called Tsarist, since it dates back to 1896 and began to be built as a villa zone for the Bulgarian elite and the Tsar's entourage, and just above the hotels is the Tsar’s Tsarska Bistritsa Forest Palace — sometimes Princess Kalina lives there. The climate here is mild, the average air temperature in January is -4.8 ° C.

Borovets organizes ski carnivals and helicopter rides over the Rila Lakes.

Almost all the hotels in this resort, and no more than 20 of them, are located in the center of the resort, right at the end of the road.

I happened to be in Flora. There is no photo of him.

Aparthotel Flora 4 * is located very close to the gondola lift, in the center. The hotel has a restaurant, Irish bar, conference room, indoor pool, sauna, fitness room, jacuzzi and ski wardrobe. In general, everything that usually happens in such hotels.

I must say that the apartment was quite hot. The heating here is electric.

We ate in restaurants and mekhan on the street, I do not really like to dine in hotels. Prices in Borovets seemed to me a little lower than in Bansko. In general, inexpensive. Dine with wine for one person can be 10-15 euros.

Of course, in Borovets, as in any other resort, you can buy all your ski equipment, including the skis or snowboard themselves. There are also ski schools for children and adults.

In addition to modern hotels in Borovets, there are also old alpine-style villas.

In Borovets, Bulgarian elite and foreign diplomats still hold country houses. One of our consuls owns an apartment in Borovets. Maybe not one, but I was visiting only one.

All photos are personal to me.

Thank you for your time and attention.
