People are going crazy around Corona
It's been some days since my last post due to circumstances. Just a follow up here about the corona situation here in the Netherlands.
In addition, requests were made to stop visiting high-risk groups (the elderly and the weak) if they really do not have to. Because the virus can kill them. The strange thing is that at the moment a number of young people, not belonging to the risk group, also have serious complaints and are staying in the hospital.
Unviersities and higher education schools are closed. They should offer more online lessons. Primary schools and secondary education remain open. I think that is strange in itself because I think that this group is a lower risk group, but they can certainly infect others. This is now a discussion within the government. I expect today that these schools will also be closed.
After our prime minister announced the new measures, the country has gone mad. Got crazy in the sense of stocking up on groceries. Store shelves are empty. People buy loads full of toilet paper, pasta, long-life vegetables and medicines.
I feel like people mistakenly mistake Corona for a war. The supply of products remains guaranteed, people do not have to worry that there is no more food. And with that toilet paper, I just don't get it. Why should you have 1000 rolls of toilet paper at home, is that really the most important thing you can think of?
You can see that it is spread like an oil slick all over the world. My colleague would leave for Morocco this week for 2 weeks with his family. You may wonder if it is wise, but they had already booked it. There was not a single case of corona in Morocco and the travels just continued. Now yesterday the Moroccan government has decided not to allow air traffic to Morocco from the Europe anymore, so his holiday cannot continue. Maybe more sensible too, but annoying of course.
Concerts are also canceled internationally, major sporting events such as Formula 1. It is simply a major problem that we must all deal with in a good way. Do not panic and therefore plunder supermarkets but think about each other with common sense, consider the elderly and weaker and do not take risks. If we all do that, we will be able to cope with this and we will soon be able to live normal life again.
Be wise, think about each other and think about yourself !!
Stay strong,
Peter
It is sheer hell to see all that’s happening. The people who died the sick but also the sickening behaviour that I see everywhere and the fucking apps all day with funny memes I hate it. I am scared for my little boys my parents and for my fellow Dutchies. But my parents live in Italy in summer and there we have an example of what it will be with is in two or three weeks. Not that the groceries aren’t there but you aren’t allowed in the supermarket so yes I stacked some groceries, to be able to have food in the house for one week but hygiene and shoes etc it scares the living shit out of me.
Gisteren 450 doden in Italie... Waar stopt dit... Best scary ... Sterkte en succes daar !!
Panic is not going to help matters, but some will only think of themselves. Some items were sold out in our local supermarket, but I could get the things we really needed. My daughter's university has stopped lessons for now. I expect various events will be put off and cause a lot of hassle for organisers. We will get through this.
I get the whole social isolation thing if they are trying to stop the spread, but the whole hoarding stuff and buying out the stores so that people can't live their lives normally is just horrible. I bought a ton of meat this past Friday to put in the freezer, but it was our regular run. We do that every other month anyway, so it wasn't like I was hoarding because of Corona.
It seems people are getting down to earth with the hoarding. For now a lot of stores (not grocery) are closing their doors cause of Corona. Schools, all ages, are already closed and airports are almost empty. A lot of airlines aren't flying at all... Stay safe Bozz
