[CR] Junji Ito inspired

Another snow day here in Minneapolis.

Before I get too caught up with chores I’d like to share this Junji Ito inspired drawing that I started two days ago. I took a break from my figure studies, which you can see in my past feed and began doodling a fresh portrait of an instagram influencer that I follow. I thought I’d give the image a twist by merging her with a character’s from Ito’s Uzumaki. She’s about 70% complete.

I started this image using an HB pencil tool to sketch out the facial features and then special details like moles that the models has on her face. Then I got the idea to draw a spiral on her face after glancing down at my new Uzumaki pin that was gifted to me by my sweetheart. Next I outlined her face and sketched in hair with a round brush tool. I’m still not sure how I’ll finish the hair. Instead of worrying about the hair, I began to pencil in areas of the face like the eyes, nose and corners of the lips with a darker pencil. I did a couple of shading layers with that same dark color using the round brush tool. You can see that the overall drawing gradually gets darker. It’s kind of in an awkward phase and like I said earlier, she’s 70% complete.

Now I have to decide if she’ll be finished in pencils or inks.
