While on Monday (March 24th) the whole world world celebrated TB (tuberculosis) day, on the other hand a few surprises, some serious statistics came out.

Yes research has shown that despite the improvement in medical and the efforts of the government and aid agencies, the number of children suffering from tuberculosis (TB) since 2011 is increasing rapidly. Researchers have said that the number of children who have been suffering from TB has doubled since 2011, worldwide.

According to statistics and research by the researchers of the Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) and Harvard Medical School (HMS) in Boston, one million people are estimated to be suffering from TB annually. Researchers estimate that 32,000 children suffer from multigrain resistant TB (MDR-TB).

Cohen, assistant professor of the Harvard School of Public Health, told that, "We estimate that the total number of new cases of tuberculosis in children is twice that of WHO 2011 estimates."

Researches by researchers show that about 10,00,000 children had TB in 2010, out of which 32,000 children were suffering from MDR-TB. This report has been published in The Lancet Journal.

It is worth mentioning that 40 percent of South East Asian children affected, while 28 percent are from Africa. A research published in Lancet states that the risk of this disease is higher in children. However, treatment at the right time can be overcome.

It is also stated in the research that it is said that adequate funds are needed to identify and treat the lungs infected with this disease. image
