Prayer of a parent
Now I lay down to sleep
I pray to keep my sanity
For if I do not find peace,
I’m pretty sure I’ll lose my mind
I pray I find a little quiet
Far from the daily family troubles
May I lie back and not always think
About what they are arguing about
Or who they’re with, or where they go
And what they’re doing to each other
I pray for time to myself
Oh it feels as though something fell off the shelf
To lay in my nice soft bed
Something did actually fall off
Some silent moments for goodness sakes
Did I just hear a window break?
And I don’t have to cook and clean
I know I have the right to dream
Now as I lay down to sleep
My pray to my wits to keep me
Beautiful
I love it! :-))
