Persischstunden-Film review Persian lesson behind the creation of a language

in rosecommunity5 years ago

A young Jewish man created a language;

A story that happened in a Nazi concentration camp;

A German anti war film adapted from reality.

These three elements come together, and maybe you'll be interested in the movie "Persian lesson.".

I watched this film with the theme of concentration camp under the recommendation of my friend who called it "the best German film in recent years". There are some shadows of similar works "pianist" and "beautiful life", and even some black humor like "shameless bastard". However, the tonality and temperament of "Persian lesson" are quite different from those of the same theme works in the past.

Cold, light, always keep the distance of the camera and emotional restraint, but also did not forget the due rationality, reflection and compassion.

As a whole, Persian class is a serious literary film, but it is also full of popular commercial nature and does not look dull.

At the beginning of the film, several SS soldiers shot and killed a truck of Jews. Gilles, the only survivor, called himself "Persian" in a panic and took out a Persian book to testify.

In fact, Gilles is not Persian at all. He just exchanged half a loaf of bread with another Jew in the car (the other side also stole it) But now, he has to call the name "Reza" written in the book.

It turned out that Captain Koch in the concentration camp had been looking for someone to teach him Persian, and Gilles had just recovered his life.

In order to live a lie, Gilles gave full play to his quick wits. Relying on the words he just learned, he successfully turned himself into a Persian Reza who can not read and write but can only speak.

Of course, Koch will not simply listen to the words of "Reza". The contest between the two is just beginning.

As his father was a Jewish teacher, Gilles had a good command of the language. He made up a few Persian words for the first night.

It's easy to make things up, but it's hard to remember. If it goes on like this, it's going to help sooner or later.

When Gilles was at a loss, Koch arranged for him to write down the Jewish information sent to the concentration camp.

After writing, Gilles looked at the notebook and suddenly got a flash of inspiration: Yes, I'll just edit the words according to the names on the list?! So I can remember all the words by remembering the name!

With his unique method and intelligence, Gilles tricked Koch into learning bogus Persian for half a year, but Koch, who suspected that he had been tricked, sent him to the quarry because of a repeated slip of the tongue.

This "subconscious instinctive expression" made Koch believe that he really wronged the other party because of a polysemy - so Gilles got a second chance.

Gilles, who returned to the scam, never made any mistakes again. He even took the initiative to let Koch communicate with himself in "Persian".

Gilles's various performances convinced Koch that he had learned Persian successfully.

When Koch unable to restrain the emotions of "one of the most beautiful words" in the evening, the scene of the scene of the bubble lies in a ridiculous way.

But if you think about it, the audience won't be able to laugh: because Koch's wonderful words are adapted from the names of the dead or dying Jews.

What impresses me deeply in Persian class is the excellent portrayal of the characters, which is complex, vivid and not facial. The most successful role is captain Koch, who is played by Lars Edinger.

Koch is a strict to harsh logistics officer in the concentration camp. When he first appeared on the scene, he was just trying to teach the female assistant stover a lesson, just because the other party's writing was not clear and neat enough.

However, under the harsh, irascible and narrow-minded appearance, he thinks that he has a reasonable "mild" side.

However, there are preconditions for his tenderness and respect, that is, others can meet his requirements 100%.

Koch's behavior of asking Gilles to record the list shows two things: first, he didn't realize that he admitted in disguise that a "humble alien" could do better than a "noble fellow"; second, he didn't take the people on the list seriously, the names were just characters.

The image of a fine and ruthless Nazi officer is about to emerge, but the thickness of this role is more than that.

In the eyes of others, this harsh officer, who has no defects / dead ends, will tell Gilles with a smile that he plans to open a restaurant in Teheran in the future, reunite with his brother, dream of a love affair with a young lady, and talk about his family and past - he seems to really take Gilles as a kind friend.

However, in the detection of Gilles may lie, Koch immediately put on a pair of hysterical ferocious expression.

He immediately yelled at this "friend" and punched and kicked, which was no different from other colleagues.

Even Koch wanted to torture the Jewish liar more severely: it was too cheap to shoot him, so he had to go to the quarry to do heavy work, and then told corporal Bayer, who had been looking at Gilles for a long time, to focus on "care" and make him live as if he were dead.

In fact, Koch's harshness has never changed. Just because Gilles is a criminal who can fight or kill, he can commit violence without scruple.

When he realized that he had "wronged" Gilles, Koch said lightly that he wanted to turn the page and that the two should look forward.
