steemit ethics

It seems to me there have been a few prominent unspoken ethical agreements between steemians.
Likely more than I've come to realize, in my short amount of time as a steemian, but. This is a given.
It seems like there's a big grey area surrounding whether or not one should upvote themselves. Some say to do it all the time, other's would say to avoid it at all costs. And still others, would suggest there's a time in every steemians life where they pass a threshold to where they should no longer do this. It's not wide spread, but there's an implication.
It's really about supporting other minnows, and the community to grow. So, when I do good, you can too!

Then there's this whole thing about bringing acknowledgement to the fact that you upvote or resteem someone's post for the willingness to want to share their posts as your own. Which is cool. I wish it happened more often. But the safety bubble which has now popped seemed to have slowed alot of traffic down on the steem frontier.
Then there have been some mocking posts about how many steemians choose to make their replies or comments more than one line long. Which is in my mind, a greater form of expression. But maybe seen by others as a form of redundant over'splaining. Just an observation.
I think in the end, this is alot like life as we have come to know it. It's best to do what ever you feel is right, and do it unashamedly. Express yourself, share your posts. Write about what you feel.
And do it with pride!
