If the hope is still allowed for anything related to sport video games, the action games and especially the first-person shooters should never appear in the Olympics games. This is the message that have wanted to pass Thomas Bach, the President of the International Olympic Committee.

From August 18th to September 2nd of this year, the 18th Asian Games, a multi-sports competition organized every four years. For the first time, this event was the theater of eSport tournaments.
The Olympic Council of Asia had actually given its agreement so that the Indonesian event can host Arena of Valor, League of Legends, 2018 Pro Evolution Soccer, Clash Royale, Hearthstone and StarCraft 2 tournaments. It was however only about demonstrations and no medal was awarded to the winners. On the other hand, these tournaments allowed Thomas Bach to react.
The president of the International Olympic Committee didn’t do things by halves. Relieved by Associated Press, its words are without ambiguity. He castigates in particular what he calls "murder games", indicating that it was out of the question to see this kind of games represented at the Olympics Games.
For Thomas Bach, these games "contradict the Olympic values and therefore cannot be accepted" before specifying " all fighting sports are originated of real confrontations between people. But sport is the civilized expression of that. The games in which the purpose is to kill someone cannot match with our Olympic values".
The video games and the eSport should not be present at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, but the question still arises for Paris 2024. One thing is already certain: if video games would be there, it will doubtless be games sport.
It is moreover the path towards which appear the Asian Games: in 2022, they should be the object of a full discipline. Zhang Dazhong - President of Alisports (Chinese sports subsidiary of Alibaba and partner of Asia Olympic Council) - declared to Reuters: "eSport must be focused on the sport and not on the entertainment or on the honor to represent his country".
