More successful DAPPs is better for the entire HIVE ecosystem. Even when multiple DAPPs are doing the same thing (such as being a general front end for the social media aspect), they can do this with many different flavors. This is a very big advantage we have in cryptosphere compared to the traditional centralized alternatives. The alternative front ends to Reddit, Twitter (X) etc. never got a massive mainstream following and API restrictions/costs brought these to the knees.

Blockchain is built different. Official UI is not that special compared to the alternatives. They are all taking their data from the same decentralized blockchain. Multiple strong front ends provide variety and foster innovation. This is one of the best reasons to support multiple front ends. I make it a point to make transactions from different front ends in order to help each of them improve their stats.

Delegating HP to @ecency

The HIVE Power received are used for curation activities. This is manual curation that support authors on HIVE. 100% of the curation rewards are distributed to delegators. HiveStats can be used to measure and compare curation APR. Mine is low mainly because I do not curate with profits in mind. Those who optimize for curation earnings have far better APR number on top of the 2.8% interest received for staking $HIVE.

The APR is 3.17% higher for @ecency in absolute terms. It is 1.62 times what I earn through manual curation. If you are merely attempting to maximize your APR while voting in a way that is helpful for the long term health of HIVE blockchain, you can stop reading and delegate most of your HIVE Power to @ecency after checking if your APR is lower than this:

Promote Feature is Good Marketing

It is difficult for a new user to get noticed on HIVE. There are things they can do to increase their odds of being noticed by doing things such as being active in comment sections or engaging in short form content such as Threads. Promote feature allows anyone to pay with Ecency Points to get featured on Ecency.com UI. It is a great way to expose one's articles to a larger audience without any extra work.

Using the website is enough to start earnings some Ecency Points. There is no need to purchase them. I have been spoiled by the superior ways of HIVE and seek paths to earn without loosing the cryptocurrency I already have. This is the reason most of my HIVE Power is delegated out! I'm sacrificing curation rewards to earn some Token such as $LEO or $ZING. There is no such sacrifice when earning Ecency Points.

Minimum 150 Points Per Promotion

Unless you have one of your best work to promote, I suggest sticking to a 7 day promotion for 500 Ecency Points if you have a large amount of Points to spare or at least try to reach 150 Ecency Points to promote each of your articles when they are published. Plan your delegation accordingly.

1 Ecency Point Per 10 HP Per Day

I didn't have enough HP to delegate because of my prior commitments to @leo.voter and @zingtoken projects. Ideally I would like to have 1,500 - 2,000 HP delegated. I can slowly increase my delegation over time to reach that goal. It is best to start out with a small amount and evaluate results. I have seen new users visit and engage with my articles after a promotion. I know I can continue to use this feature to expand my reach on HIVE.
