Kugelfische und die Wunder der Natur
an der Südküste der japanischen Insel Amami-Ōshima im pazifischen Ozean, wurde erstmalig 1995 dieses Naturwunder gesichtet und blieb für lange Zeit ein Mysterium für die Wissenschaft.
Erst 2014 wurde der japanische Kugelfisch (Torquigener albomaculosus) auf frischer Tat ertappt.
Dabei hat er hat soviel Eindruck hinterlassen, dass er daraufhin im Folgejahr vom International Institute for Species Exploration (IISE) in die Liste "Top 10 New Species" für neue Arten auserwählt wurde.
Dieser braune, weiß-gepunktete Kugelfisch ist zwar nur ca. 20 cm groß, aber zur Paarungszeit gibt sich das Männchen eine Woche non-stop an seiner 10-27m tiefen Wirkungsstätte sehr viel Mühe und beeindruckt damit nicht nur die weiblichen Kugelfische... ;)
