DESPISING GOD

Text: “Give them according to their deeds...Because they regard not the works of the Lord, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them and not build them up.” Ps 28:4-5

We are called to a life of faith. One attribute of that life is that we see God in everything and we keep our focus on him by all means. God wants us to continually regard the work of his hands. The ability to see God at work at all times is crucial to your sustenance in life. Its always easier to see what is not working, what is not enough and what is wrong. It takes faith to see what is working and what is right in every situation.

Life is in phases and stages, so also the blessings of God come in phases. We must learn to appreciate God for whatever phase of his blessings we find ourselves. I want you to recognise these two things:

  1. What is happening in your life right now may be small and insignificant but we must recognise the hand of God in it. If you look down on things that look small then you have despised God. In most cases God will initially give us something small that he will eventually give us plenty of it. If we don’t acknowledge and appreciate him for the little then we disqualify ourselves for the increase.

  2. Comparing what God is doing in your life with what he's doing in the life of others might make you to despise the acts of God in your life. There is no basis for comparison. God’s program for our lives are different and unique to us. You will find a lot of rest and confidence in God if you understand this. When we see what God has done for others our attitude should be thanksgiving; knowing that he’s at work in our lives too.

Watch your life closely and don’t despise God.

PRAYER:
Father thank you for where we are today. Thank you for all that you have done in our lives.
