Art City Den Bosch - Jheronimus Bosch Art Center

The JHERONIMUS (JEROEN) BOSCH ART Center is housed in the former St. Jacob's church. It feels a little strange to stand there looking at his paintings and drawings of monsters, devils and mortal fears, characteristic of the period in which he lived, when everything revolved around death and penance, whilst the church continued to preach about hell and damnation.
Jheronimus’s parents came from Germany and his surname is 'Van Aken'. He clearly had a knack for marketing even back then. He was also well-known whilst he was still alive, which was quite remarkable for that time.

In the church he used to attend, not only are his paintings on display, but you can also see artworks and paintings by other artists based on his work. It’s lovely to wander around there, pop down into the cellar to have a look at the studio (it’s bitterly cold down there, though) and listen to the astronomical art clock at 3 om.

There is now also a lift that takes you to the top of the tower, where you can enjoy a view of the city. Unfortunately, there are windows fitted, so you can’t stand outside. With the rain lashing against the glass, there isn’t much to see, I’m afraid.

I went down a very steep, winding staircase with tiny steps. On every floor there were paintings and embroideries based on them by a different painter (who is still alive).
So it was an extra exhibition for the same price (the admission fee for the JB Art center is 12 euros, which is considerably cheaper than the average exhibition).
How to start painting? In the cellar you find the answer, it's by making your own paint and panel.

The idea is to guide yourself. Visitors be given a booklet with information containing the numbers of the corresponding works of art.
What to say about his creations? It is hard to tell what he made, his family, student or others. An artist rarely work alone at one painting.

If you like to know more about Den Bosch and the art city, more is coming up.
This are really nice piece of art that is been displayed. But there are few of them that are looking very funny n weird. Probably artist like you will understand it better.
This artwork , were you the one that made it? Is looking so nice.
It is a bit unsure why those funny part are but most like they have to do with the expressions used back then and partly today. Have a look at the Gambler, a frog is getting out of the mouth of the gambler...it says something about being fooled.
The one you show is a replica so not the original but it is great to see the process.
How are you doing?
Thank you for your support.
(. With the rain lashing against the glass, there isn’t much to see, I’m afraid.) One small detail that's always annoying.
🤣 The annoying part I didn't write which was that it was impossible to go outside. The best view couldn't be seen. I guess they are afraid people will jump off.
