SEC-S16 / W4 | "The Environment and Our Health - Keeping Up Appearances?

in Healthy Steemlast month (edited)

Do you care about how the environment infects your health?

My Environment.jpg

No need to answer that question. If I look around me I know enough. We all say we do, care about what surrounds us which is not only about Mom Nature: earth, water and sky but everything and everyone. In reality, hygiene is not what most people see as their first priority. We people could learn something from the average animal. We do not like to clean bathtubs, showers, doorknobs or toilet pots unless hysteria is spread and people honestly believe they will drop dead on the streets. Most likely that will never happen since dirty people have a super active immune system (so does everyone eating in a restaurant, visiting school, using public transport or a public toilet) plus they don't suffer from a bad conscience, same if it comes to the lazy ones.

Keeping Up Appearances - Super clean Hyacinth and dirty Daisy & Onslow are never ill.

So while @aminasafdar and I wash our hands several times a day, clean screens, keyboards, doorknobs and trash others leave behind.(just like a small group of cleaning ladies) the rest don't care and trust me the poor are not the dirtiest animals you should see how the more fortunate leave a hotel room behind they paid at least 500 euros per night for!

I care about what surrounds me but not 24/7 since my time is limited and I schedule what has to be done, after all, I am a crazy writer and not the world's cleaning lady although many seem to think I am. So do I at times by the way since I automatically pick up trash on the streets, out of my garden which the wind always blows to my front door. It's a very bad habit of the wind!

I like my environment tidy in the first place since it's better for my mood (mind) and a healthy mind creates a healthy body. A clean home and good smells are not only good for the mood but stimulate people to keep it clean as well (unless you think you have the right to let others clean up behind you because you pay for it, a nasty attitude people!).

I do not collect, I don't clutter, and I am not attached to most of my items. What I don't need I give away (there's a shop where people can take for free whatever they need and there are also 'give-away-cupboards).

Kudos for this lady! She's right, the more dirty a house is the bigger the result!

I wash towels, and sheets I should have mentioned that in my post about hygiene and do the best I can. You won't find trash lying around or clothes since I don't like to attract rats and creepy insects like mosquitoes, fleas, ticks, bed bugs and flies all good for making spreading diseases and make one sick.

Water, soap, if you like vinegar and bleach and you are good to go! If you do not buy what you don't need there's less waste and the environment (which is me too) will be grateful to you.
P.S. Next time you get in your car to dump your trash drive in the opposite direction there are plenty of containers. Those living in the countryside (me, my children, flora and fauna) are not your cleaning ladies.

Air...

fresh air, I ventilate but there's nothing I can change to create a better quality. Governments spray a lot of unhealthy stuff in the air, cut all trees and if the wind drops the sand of the Sahara on my window seal it transports the dirt of the entire world too.

Wind turbines add only more danger just like 5G and all the other 'electricity' travelling through the air. How to avoid it, and stay healthy if governments do not care?
Turbines are killing entire populations of birds and whether we like it or not we humans are part of nature's cycle of life. Another negative fact is they spread tiny parts into the air causing cancer and they do not last long. There's nothing green about this type of energy. Not its production, not the computers and power to switch them on, not all those batteries needed or the growing mountain of parts that are replaced but cannot be reused! Why not build more old fashioned windmills if we really care? They make great homes too.

We breathe in more plastic, chemicals and toxins than we are aware of. It's not us the people who can make a change since a handful rule and do as they like. If it comes to it the 13 richest families on the earth pollute more than the entire world's population. I understand why people no longer care since we are instructed to save on energy, water, separate trash, clean up, shower less pay tax for everything and nothing since the 70s and nothing has changed, it only became worse due to the government and rich ones forcing us into buying new cars, bikes, electrical scooters, investing in solar panels, new bridges, washing machines, light bulbs, computers phones, tablets, printers, while removing each park, cutting down trees and keep building (the #2 on the list of biggest polluters is the building and
renovating of houses and roads, #1 is the industry but no, we blame the animals nature itself not the filthy consuming alway in need for more human beasts).

After all these years I am tired of the anti-pollution nonsense. Trees, plants need C02 so a zero policy is ridiculous. Even if my country was without people and animals it would still not be zero because of the wind!

I keep my environment clean

I use my own water, it's not filtered, I boil it if it smells which helps to reduce the plastic intake. I don't use medication or chemical cleaning stuff, pesticides so the water is not poisoned by what I use or pee out.
A clean environment has a positive influence on my mind, and like we all know a healthy mind is important, also for fruitcake writers like me, to keep us healthy.

I noticed Canva shows a lot of banners with "switch-of-your-lamp-for-one-hour-day" (as if it helps. Just for your information there are not even streetlights where I live so unless it's clouded or foggy I can always see the stars. Venus by the way found a home in the walnut tree).
I will not switch my lamp off since I spend the biggest part of my life without light, walking around in the dark, just like I sit in a cold house and haven't been watching the tele for nearly twenty years and no radio ever plays over here. So perhaps on this day, I treat myself and my family with a house full of light, an extra long shower, and a hot tub while switching on the TV and turning on the stereo loud.

EARTH HOUR (instagram post).jpg

Who are we kidding? 60 minutes today is equal to 5 minutes in the 70s - light off and loading the electric car while watching TV? I thought we already introduced summertime to benefit of extra daylight.

Hello @wakeupkitty.pal. Your reflection on the connection between cleanliness, environment, and health is thought-provoking. It's true that many overlook the importance of hygiene in maintaining a healthy environment. Your dedication to cleanliness despite external factors like windblown trash is commendable. Let's continue to raise awareness about the importance of cleanliness for our well-being and the environment. Thumbs up

I am not quiet sure if this was the essence of my writing but for sure it is connected. To me more important is to keep my environment tidy because it is good for my mind, besides of the fact I prefer a good smell above a bad one. With good smells the brains are stimulated in a positive way.

Thank you for reading & commenting it's highly appreciated.
I wish you a great, fullfilling day & happy writing!
