I love the Christmas tree, it looks beautiful and simple
That's a nice thing to say.
During my childhood trees always looked like this, just bigger lights (no longer for sale), the decoration was all silver (hard to find those balls) plus some "angle hair" (this is made out of glass, itchy and I believe no longer sold) and red ribbons.
I like to keep it simple and uniform. By the way, this tree has already more decoration than past year (no chains and decoration on the top which I both received for free).
Most Christmas trees I find ugly and messy to look at. To me it feels people lack taste.

I don't put up Christmas decorations. My grandmother passed away many years ago on December 8th, and other relatives have died in December. For me, it's more a month of remembrance than celebration, but I like seeing people happy at this time of year.
Every month, day people die, family, friends. My dear uncle, the only one being kind to me died on December 4th St Nicholas day. I remember how he tried to bring the preswnts my grandmother bought after my parents divorced (my father hit the road).
It wasn't appreciated and my mother chased him away like a stray dog. Still, I have good thoughts of him trying and if I think of him year after year although he froze to death alone in Lapland.
My best friend died on March 8th, a birtday. She said: Sorry, I can no longer live and hang in. It was dine with me. Who dies shouldn't care about the feelings if those lefr behind and what date it is. I still have her 5 gulden, we gave that note of money on birthdays. She liked birthdays and celebrating together just like travelling.
