Bill Gates challenges digital currencies, calling them a great risk

Microsoft founder Bill Gates says to Reddit during a "Ask me anything" session (AMA) that he is conservative about digital currencies. He said in his article that the main feature of digital currencies is not disclosure of identity is not good, because the government must monitor money laundering, tax evasion and financing of terrorism. Of course, there is also a problem with illicit drugs. Gates also said:
"At present, digital currencies are being used to buy fentanyl and other drugs, so this extraordinary technology has caused deaths fairly directly. I think the speculative wave of currency and currency support operations is a big risk for those who invest in the long term "
Gates's remarks were highly criticized by the panelists. While others advised Gates to reconsider the white paper, and many others criticized him for trying to use his social status to influence the digital currency market in a negative way. But while Gates is still skeptical about digital currencies, his company Microsoft has continued to build interest in the underlying plucheen technology. On the other hand, in 2015, Bill Gates's approach was more optimistic about digital currencies. In an interview with Eric Schatzker on the Bloomberg TV's Smart Street, Gates said:
