🎬Watching novelties: The Gifted, Marvel's Inhumans, Star Trek: Discovery
Hello, everyone!
Today in the short review, there are 3 new novelties: a glorified Marvel's series about Inhumans from the moon, the updated Star Trek and the children-mutants.
Star Trek: Discovery
Cast: Jason Isaacs, Doug Jones, Shazad Latif, Sonequa Martin-Green, Maulik Pancholy, Michelle Yeoh, Kenneth Mitchell.
Plot: Ten years before the beginning of the story described in the original Star Trek series, the USS Discovery NCC-1031 crew embarks on a journey to explore the deep space and discover new worlds and civilizations.
Avaliable episodes: 3/13
My opinion: After the premiere of the parodic series "The Orville", finally we waited for "Star Trek: Discovery". At the moment, "The Orville" is more inclined to the dramatic genre and produces one good series after another, but this is not enough for me, so "Star Trek: Discovery" was on time.
The show is pleased with the picture and details. The Klingons are in the role of villains. They speak Klingon language and are horrified by their appearance. In general, I really like the moments with them and I sincerely worried for their leader. I like almost everything: space, a ship, colors. The show is very colorful and dynamic. We are introduced to the Universe and the crew through flashbacks and dialogues, so if you have not watched Star Trek movies, then still the perception of the series for you will be easy.
What is embarrassing? Both captains of the ship are women. Michelle Yeoh plays the role of the ship's chief captain. She seems weak and inexperienced compared to Michael, so her fate is not surprising.
The creators of the film spare no one. Already in the second episode, the ship enters a full-scale battle, the scriptwriters easily get rid of a half the characters. I hope that such dynamics will continue in the future. I recommend to all fans of fiction. We are waiting for the magnificent and interesting worlds).

Marvel's Inhumans
Cast: Sonya Balmores, Isabelle Cornish, Iwan Rheon, Eme Ikwuakor, Ken Leung, Mike Moh, Anson Mount, Serinda Swan.
Plot: The royal family controls the race of the Inhumans living on the Moon. As a result of intrigues, there is a military coup.
Avaliable episodes: 2
My opinion: I think everybody knows about this TV series cause the first 2 episodes were shown in cinemas in IMAX. The plot did not impress me, so I decided to wait for the release of the series on TV.
So, mankind does not know that someone lives on the moon. Iwan Rheon again is an antagonist. He called upon the Inhumans to go to Earth, as the resources on the Moon are running out. It would seem that a highly developed civilization will be able to solve this problem? But no, moreover, after reaching a certain age, all the teenagers on the moon pass a ritual, the result of which, receive or do not receive the super ability. Those who don't receive any ability are sent to the mines. Perhaps this is a comedy? No, the characters walk with serious faces. Later I learned about this inferior caste, but for some reason, we were not told about it in the first episode and then some of the questions would immediately disappear.
I can not imagine why Marvel's Inhumans should have been shown in IMAX, the special effects are absolutely not impressive, you can see the lack of a budget.
About the heroes. Ramsay Bolton is amazing as usual, a little toad. His name even resembles the Throne's one - Maximus Bolt. That's the ideal actor to play antagonists. He managed to convey some uncertainty of his character. He completely doubts his actions, but he still does what he does. The King of Inhumans - Black Bolt, communicates via sign language (for some reason they go without subtitles). He has a poker face through the whole episode. Remember how great actors can play with their eyes? Not this time. Queen Medusa is also not convincing.
I am confused by what I saw. Perhaps, my standards are too high but I did not expect such a weak plot from Marvel. I'll watch the second episode for the sake of the cute dog and Maximus, but most likely I can not stand it.

The Gifted
Cast: Amy Acker, Stephen Moyer, Sean Teale, Emma Dumont, Natalie Alyn Lind.
Plot: When Andy and Lauren Strucker uncover supernatural powers, their parents decide to flee from a government that opposes mutants.
Avaliable episodes: 1/10
My opinion: The plot of "The Gifted" is associated with the X-Men, however, from the first seconds of the episode you remember not the X-Men, but Heroes. Even the main character is written off with Claire Bennet. Both cheerleaders and have almost the same appearance. And Lauren's father works for the government and is fighting against mutants. But his opinion is changing rapidly when his children discover abilities. The series has to answer questions, what will ordinary parents do to protect their children? What will the government do to protect ordinary people from mutants?
While none of the heroes are impressed, everything is standard: the hysteric mother worries about the children, the defending father, the whiner-younger brother, cared for by the older sister with the strong character. There is another line with rebel characters who oppose the government and help American mutants cross the Mexican border.
I was pleased with the special effects and perfectly shot the final fight. The series "The Gifted" is suitable for those who miss the X-Men and Heroes.
I didn't survive the first season of Heroes. The gifted is way better in my opinion, I loved it. Just the amount of easter eggs related to X-Men made me totally geek out.
What do you think about Inhumans?
Didn't watch it. The trailer was sooooo bad, that it seems like a total waste of time. When I'll have some time to kill I'll give it a try.
