Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 69: How long did it take you to unravel who Father Christmas is

When I was a kid, I and my peers had this repeated feeling to see Santa Claus every Christmas party. Back in my nursery school, we had a tradition of celebrating Christmas part which doubled as the end of 1st term. After the celebration, we are expected to return home for our Christmas holiday. So, we had to wait for Father Christmas (as we fondly called Santa Claus) who usually have his iconic entry. During the event, he shared gifts among the pupils and I do collect the gift. Something triggered my curiosity in my secondary school which I’ll share here.

In my secondary school, a Christmas party was being held and I noticed something. During my nursery school, the Santa Claus was tall but the one in my secondary school was an average height. My thought was like “does Santa Claus shrink in size as the years goes by?” my curiosity led me to my mother phone where I researched about Santa Claus. The result came out and I discovered that the original character of Santa Claus was St Nicholas who lived centuries ago. In his advanced age, he wore red clothes with white hairs and beards. His distinct characteristics were giving gifts to children who lived around him in the North Pole. They say Curiosity kills a cat but it adds to my knowledge this time.

As I said earlier that I realized the true character of Santa Claus in my secondary school. It happened when I notched height issue and my classmate leaked a secret to me. Since he was the son of the vice principal, he knew the incomings and outgoings of the event. He told us that Sir Joe was behind the character of Santa Claus. Sir Joe who was our agricultural science teacher was a strict type of person who moved with his tool. This tool is the doubled cane which he termed “weapon of destruction”. How that strict person cans played a role of a loving person. It surprised me because the Santa Claus role he played was executed with love. My question was just “HOW COME?”
