Coffee Series #8 Personal Experience on Nitro Cold Brew Coffee
After so many coffee series I finally have the chance to experience Coffee Bean Nitro Cold Brew coffee. We wanted to order a few days ago but the barista told us Nitro Cold Brew finished so we couldn't try the coffee. Luckily today we had the chance to taste it.
What Is Nitro Cold Brew?
The name is fancy, but the concept is actually quite simple. Generally put, the nitro cold brew is coffee that is steeped in cold water—and then infused with nitrogen bubbles. It was clearly mentioned the information on the cup.
How Is It Made?
In short answer, the coffee steeped in cold water. The cold brew is then pumped through a special device that infuses it with pure nitrogen—or a combination of nitrogen and CO2. You may find more technical on how it made over the Internet.
How Does It Taste Like?
Since the coffee is using nitrogen gas and cold brew, the taste is more towards acidity and I can taste the coffee acidity stay on my tongue quite some time. It doesn't have much bitter compared to hot americano. Since it is more acidity and hence it has more caffeine. Besides, it does taste a little bit like Guinness beer.
For me, this is really great as in the taste and the experience. However, the taste will start to change when you leave the coffee at outdoor for some time. So, the coffee needs to be either drink in indoor with air condition or don't leave it at outdoor for too long like more than 30-45 minutes.
How About The Price?
The price is slightly premium since it uses nitrogen gas and steeped about 20 hours. But I think the price is fair as in the coffee need such a long time to brew and make it compared to espresso-based coffee.
Where Can I Get One?
So far, I know Starbucks Malaysia & Coffee Bean Malaysia do have Nitro Cold Brew coffee. Coffee Bean has Nitro Cold Brew Latte as well, just another flavour for Nitro coffee.
