BENEFITS OF ACCEPTING YOUR MISTAKES

in #bigwaves6 years ago (edited)

Hello, steemians,
I believe everyone had a great day.
Well, today's post is encouraging everyone especially steemians to take responsibility for every action be it good or bad.

Over time, I have come to ascertain that most individuals shy away from taking responsibilities for their actions. They try to weasel their way out of it and this act simply spawns up more problems. When they eventually realize and try to set things right the road to recoupment becomes challenging.

Many times, victims of this act have this conviction of always being "right" and if not inhibited it causes irremediable harm. Although admitting your mistake could be tasking, but when you check inwardly, you'll find out that there are benefits attached to it ranging from humility, free conscience, respect, courage, enhances a better relationship, not dwelling on the mistake etc.

Explaining these benefits further, you'll come to understand why you need to own your mistakes

🌠
Humility

The scriptures tell us that,

He who humbles himself shall be exalted

And there's a saying that, "Pride goes before a fall". A humble person tends to be aware that he/she has done something wrong and admitting that fact or feeling sorry, begets a strong character as well as a step closer to becoming perfect.

🌠
Free conscience

Growing up, there was this saying I got to hear often,

A clear conscience fears no accusation.

When you admit to the fact that you've committed a mistake, it seems like a burden has been lifted off your shoulder, you feel less bothered about the consequences that may tend to arise. Also, when you're able to admit your wrong, you'll be able to face yourself.

🌠
Respect

Respect, as we know, is earned. When you take/accept responsibility for your actions, you earn genuine respect and regard from people.

🌠
Courage

Accepting responsibility for your actions reveals how courageous you are. It takes a lot of guts to truly come out clean since you know 85% of the time, the reactions of people is discouraging.

🌠
Enhances a Better relationship

The act of accepting mistakes and taking responsibility for your actions builds and saves relationships, be it with friends or family. Admitting your wrongs ensures that a relationship doesn't go vinegary.

🌠
Not dwelling on the mistake

What this simply implies is that when you accept the fact that you've made a mistake, you set yourself at liberty i.e you're able to forge ahead and forget the past. Once you're able to admit your wrong, you'll be able to to completely focus but if the issues are not resolved, there are tendencies of you having a divided attention thereby resulting to lack of focus.

It is imperative that you learn to accept your wrongs to enhance growth as well as allowing your integrity become of standard, as a person people wish to reckon with.

if everyone thought this way, we will prolly walk on waters. but no, some of us have to be right by our own standards.

Very true. Individual pride and standards, that are just so ridiculous when compared to the way things ought to be done.

The six points you mentioned above, our present society lack it, accepting our mistakes is an act of humility and when we are humble God will uplift us.

Most of those in our society, not all. Sometimes accepting that we are wrong is hard, its the pride in us, and pride goes before a fall

Mistakes make us stronger and better individuals. Good not to be afraid to make mistakes, else we wouldnt have made anything.when you do it again you learn from the mistake and comeout refined

Very very true, if we don,t fail we won't learn, and if we don,t accept our failures and put them behind us, we won't grow

Wow! Thanks it indeed takes courage to accept resposiblity for ones action.

It really does
