Elite Dangerous

Elite: Dangerous is a science fiction computer game released on December 16, 2014 and developed by the British studio Frontier Developments under the direction of David Braben. The gameplay of the open world game with a persistent world and single player as well as massively multiplayer online game mode, which requires a permanent internet connection, is based on a mixture of economic simulation and armed space flight simulation under the conditions of largely realistic space flight mechanics .

Central game elements of Elite: Dangerous go back to the classic computer game Elite, first published in 1984 by the British publisher Acornsoft and originally developed by Braben together with Ian Bell for the BBC Micro home computer. Elite: Dangerous is now the fourth part of the elite computer game series and is the successor to the 1995 published third series Frontier: First Encounters. By the end of 2016, 2.1 million copies of the game had been sold worldwide.

Step by spte, Elite: Dangerous was expanded to include new content, such as seamless landings on planets without an atmosphere that can also be explored with a ground vehicle with the Horizons addon. Gradually, more and more player spaceships were built in and even the aliens from the old elite, the Thargoids, returned. The discovery systems, mining and playing in a season have also been expanded and improved, for example with the Beyond update series from 2018. The space game still has the reputation of being more of a kind of space trucker simulation, as much of the content is identical and long-lasting to be played and you often fly from A to B for a long time. There is no real story campaign apart from the evolving background story to the universe, nor are there any exciting missions.

The World Next Door

In the story-driven game The World Next Door developed by Rose City Games, you follow the adventures of the rebellious teenage girl Jun who is trapped in a mysterious parallel world populated by magical beings. In the emotional and thrilling story, inspired by anime and indie games, players meet unusual characters, make friends and uncover the secrets of a mysterious world.

A mix of lightning-fast puzzle battles, powerful storytelling, and immersive visual novel elements, The World Next Door follows Jun who must find her way home before time runs out.

Conclusion

While Elite: Dangerous has still a quite bad reputation (even after many many updates) I can recommend it to every space enthusiast. It may get boring, yes, but it is depending on your personal approach to the game. After all, it is more of a sandbox game where you decide on how to play it.

Concerning The World Next Door to be honest, I am not a fan of this kind of games and haven't spend much time on this. The graphics are neat and the mini games are sort of entertaining. Fans of the genre might get a cheap catch here.
