Snowrunner - Rescueing The Soviet BA-20

in Steem Gaming5 years ago

We are back with our trucks in Imandra. That means: snow, ice, rocks and more snow will challenge us. This time, we need to rescue two Soviet BA-20 tanks...

First things first... this was the hardest mission I've ever encountered in Snowrunner. I actually needed three attempts.
In the first, I tried a shortcut and sunk my truck in the lake after breaking through the ice.
In the second, I flipped my truck over and lost my cargo somewhere in the dark mountains.
But the third try made it... let's recap together :)

### Scouting The Wrecks

The first step was to search for the BA-20 wrecks using a metal detector.
Unfortunately this attachment isn't available for every truck, so picked a the lightweight International Paystar 5070 and went for a search mission

The first wreck was found in the far north of the map. The Paystar was surprisingly successfull in plowing trough deep snow and climbing up icy roads
The second BA-20 was not far away but yet it was alrady getting pretty dark

Getting The Real Truck

After finding the wrecks and marking them on the map it was time to get some real truck for the job which was nothing less than picking the wrecks up and shipping them to the other side of the map >_>

BOOM! I present you the Azov 73210 (based on the real Kamaz 5340). Ten(!) wheels, permanent all wheel drive, permanent diff lock and more torgue then you may imagine.
Additionally I took a fuel trailer with me that I am going to drop mid way for easy refuel actions.

The first wreck was reached and picked up easily. Like taking a lolly from a little girl. Did I mention that I love this truck?
Time for a quick route planning break...

Not the shortest but the more safe one. At least I hoped so...

Shortcut passed successfully. No breaking through the ice this time!

Even the huge 350L fuel tank of the Azov is getting empty at some point, but luckily there was some genious who placed a fuel trailer on the way :D
A quick pit stop and we are ready to move on!

It's getting dark outside, but still I am enjoying the view from the top of the mountains.
If it wasn't basically the end of the world it would be a great place for some vacation cottage... oh... and maybe -50°C could get a bit cold

Well... not everything went as good as expected. This huge truck has one big weakness. Big rocks that get stuck under you and let you helpless like a kitten in a lion cage. Kinda sucks!

Rescue The Rescue Mission

So I had to switch to some other truck to tow my Azov off this frikkin rock.
I went for a quick and yet strong scout truck. The Tuz 420 Tartarin. Eight wheels with all wheel drive and enough power to tow the truck out of his misery

To The Finish

After this unwanted break I was able to deliver the BA-20 to his final destination. Some - more or less - well preserved air field hooray

Azov73210_final.png

Satisfied as I was, I leaned back in my chair and thought "A good day ends with the better..." wait... why is the mission not completed yet?!
Oh damn you... there is a second BA-20 I already forgott about...

Ok, once again then. But this time, no ice breaking, no flipping and no getting stuck on boulders!

Azov73210_final2.png
A quick and dirty pick up! A helicopter would have been nice!

Azov73210_final3.png
A even qicker and dirtier delivery. Like... really, why don't we use a helicopter for this?! There is one standing around actually...

Now, the buyer is happily owning the not-so-brand-new BA-20 from the second world war. I hope you enjoy them with knowing that many good trucks had a really hard time with getting you your toys :D

One More Thing

After proving my skills there is one last mission on Imandra. Obviously a tank (a small one though) is not enough.
Next time, we are going to recover 3 parts of a plane. Yes... a plane. From the second world war. Nothing easier than that!!!! Hahahaha... *cries in corner *

Sort:

Must be difficult to travel when it's heavily snowing. When driving, can definitely be difficult because the road is so slippery. And when your truck will get into trouble then you should fix it, and drink coffee then go back driving again.
