Real Life Captured #68: San Cristobal Island Galapagos! Part One (15 photos)
Hey there my Steemit friends! Here we are on the Island of San Cristobal in the Galapagos. This series will show you a good mix of things you will see if you visit this place. Let's not forget that the Galapagos are in Ecuador so what we'll see is a lot of Ecuadorian culture, people, and their way of doing things. The main town the Island of San Cristobal is called Puerto Baquerizo. This town only has about seven thousand inhabitants. So we'll have a look at small Ecuadorian island life.
San Cristobal Island is actually the island in the Galapagos that Charles Darwin spent most of his time studying. He was amazed by the sheer quantity of animals on the island. Still to this day, the wildlife is frankly everywhere and can't be missed. There is actually so much wildlife in San Cristobal it creeps right into town. So any photos of animals you do see in this series were taken in the town of Baquerizo.
I've also included photos of the airplane and airport as it's a major part of life here. This is the people's main life-line to the outside world. The airport itself is so close to town people often just walk there as it's less than a kilometer away. The airport is what brings the tourist here, the heart of the economy, and is essential to keeping things functioning. Now come along and let's take a look around Puerto Baquerizo, San Cristobal Island, Galapagos Ecuador.

Thank you!
It's really informative post my friend.
beautiful photographs are there and its really helpful to get an idea about Island of San Cristobal.
Cheers..
Glad you enjoyed!
I particularly enjoyed seeing these photos of the island itself. They helped to get a feel of the place beyond just the animals. What was that thing all wrapped in plastic?
That was plastic bottles in the shape of a sea lion. With a sign telling people to recycle.
Yes these are my favorite photos to take and posts to do. Everyone seems to like them which is great!
Thank you for those information before I will get there ;)) I hope soon. I am still in cold and snowy Poland but honestly in my motherland I feel warmth in my heart :)) Greetings my dear friend :))
I bet you do. I can only imagine the great Polish food you have been enjoying. Poland is one country I really look forward to visiting. This summer I'm hoping to get there.
