The images come from 19 Smithsonian museums, 9 research centers, libraries, archives, and even the National Zoo
The images in question are all high-resolution images that can be used for any purpose under the Creative Commons Zero license. This is a big deal, because if you are like me then you are constantly looking for new photos to use for book covers.

Whether you make your covers or hire someone else to do it, with over 2.8 million images you are sure to find something that you like. This is also great for graphic designers because it offers a vast library of images they can use for their projects.

You can find the images over at the Smithsonian Open Access. Just be careful as it’s easy to lose valuable writing time when looking through all the amazing images they’ve shared.
