Hey I'm Wyn an Actor with a lot so share, here's my 2017 Review Part 1

in #actor8 years ago (edited)

I've been meaning to make a review post for a while now but the hardest thing in the world is starting. I will be posting a video aswell.

Last year was a crazy year for me It started off with a major injury to my neck which I found out down the line I was close to paralysis.

My names Wyn I'm an actor and I'm going to be posting a blog and video each week with tips and things I'm working on.

So in December 2016 I decided that I would move to Cardiff from my small town of Aberystwyth to try my best at Acting, I did research before hand, spoke to many of my acting friends about what was the best thing to do and they all had different opinions.

Some said go to Drama School and others said just go for it and take classes in the meantime, so I decided to move with my friend to Cardiff and take as many acting classes I could out side of my work. Unfortunately with acting it takes a while to get anywhere so we have to have a job that pays the bills while training.

So back to the move, the week before I left my small sunny town I played my last game of football. During the game this was the incident that caused me to injure my neck.
The ball was running out of play for a corner for the other team but I decided in my head it was best that they had a throw in instead ( admittedly to any outsider this sounds like a daft thing) so I was being chased by this guy who I'll name as Jake.
Jake was on the other team and obviously wanted the ball (that's how football works ;) ) So I managed to kick the ball out for the throw but by doing so I had so much momentum that my body was a little off balanced and Jake being the hot head he is decided to give me an extra nudge. This nudge was fatal, it caused me to go flying into the football dugout.

I smashed my head on the bench but somehow ended up underneath the bench... I got up and had mild concussion but covered in cuts. The next few days I suffered with a sore neck which I put down to the incident and I just thought it was the muscles.

I moved to Cardiff in pain but thankfully my friend J Dawg was there to help move the things because I was unable to do so.

Things didn't go to plan with the flat we were expected to take so we had use a hostel. The end of the week I needed to go back home to grab the last of my stuff for Cardiff but while I was back I wanted to get a massage to relive the knot's in my back but it was too late for anyone to be open on a Friday so I went to A&E.

It was funny in A&E the woman examined me and I overheated her talking to her senior saying ' we have a guy who has a neck injury but it looks like concussion and stiffness' or something along those lines. As she came back in with some medication I told her about the numbness down my arm ( yes it started going numb)

Things escalated, they took me immediately for an x-ray. The Radiologist took the scans and after the second one stopped in her tracks and called the Dr, He came in and his jaw dropped he said 'WOW' he then tried explaining what happened but eventually just said come and see if for yourself.
He told me that you rarely see people walk with this injury most people come in with a neck brace on a bed.
I had fractured my c6 and c7 !

Millimetres from any real damage (obviously I broke my neck but nothing that would change my life)
