Vintage tracks
Reminiscing over an era I never new
I sat in the backseat of my uncles jeep
Jamming out on our long road trip
Just listening to some 70's to 90's tracks
The Dire Straits came up
My mind was blown
By their precisely composed guitar solos
That reverberated through our unopened windows
Some Prince blared on through the speakers
Singing the new people
It changed over to Billy Joel
Singing on an on, about him being the piano man
Then the mix all changed
A confused Star Wars track slipped into the "shuffle play"
I heard the strong voice of The Eagles
My favorite of all these super old people
The Hotel California
The prisoner for all addicts
That tried to escape their addiction
Being held by the simple laws of bio-mechanics
And the strong needing for their fix
The pace slowed down for a good old careless whisper
That has been overused and destroyed by modern memes
The lyrics behind the melodic music really screams
The hurts of a cheat that sink a heart into your feet
The list of songs went on and on
I loved every second
There's nothing better than listening to some vintage tracks
I just wished I had more time to enjoy all the good stuff
If it weren't for my uncle I would've never been introduced
To the songs of the era's that have since been reduced
To near-non-existence
The saddest part is that it was probably the best of all time
And will only be remembered
By those who walk near-ish to Death's line

I enjoyed reading this poem, Vintage Tracks. The sentiment is true. I, too, like all of these old songs - their melody, the lyrics - and the feelings encapsulated. There is so much distraction nowadays, it reminds me of the words of Patrick Kavanagh, in his poem "Advent", "through a chink too wide there comes in no wonder." In simpler times, there was more wonder :)
