Emyls and the Mirror (Part 9)
At the stream Emlys was able to snatch some fun despite the antics of the yelling prince. The moment the prince took his eyes off him, Emyls swam as far away as he could.
Downstream he noticed an old woman struggling with a pail of water she had fetched, and he did a quick breast stroke other to the bank and he climbed out to help the old woman.
He was surprised to find that it was the same woman he had meet on his way to the palace, whose firewood he had helped her carry the other time.
As he took her pail to her hut, Emlys couldn't help being rather puzzled. The woman seemed to live in two different huts, one towards the north of the palace and the other towards the south of the palace.
He was about to mention the strangeness of this when the woman did something even more strange. She handed Emlys a pendant, which was actually a mirror.
Wear it around your neck, she said. When you need help, all you have to do is call the mirror twice and wish for the particular help that you need, but you must ensure to get wise about it's usage.
Emyls thanked the woman, and fearing that the Prince might have been searching for him, he hurried back to the stream. But when he arrived at the stream, Prince Lancelot was no longer at the stream.
