Portrait Drawing of Vicky from Heaven's Secret
Hello everyone! Yesterday I finished a drawing of a character called Vicky. She is the main character of a story called Heaven's Secret. This is actually my first coloured portrait. I am not sure if I can call this a portrait as it is not a real person but it is my first human face drawing in colour.
The above is my reference picture, which is a screenshot of the main character in this story. It is one of the stories in Romance Club game application.
Tools and Materials
- A HB pencil to sketch the outlines
- Steadler Luna colour pencils
- A dust free eraser
- A sketchbook
Method
I just chose to use a simple sketchbook that has grids because I just wanted to test myself to see how well I can draw human faces in colours. The above is a quick sketch that turned out creepy and far from the reference picture.
Then I added some grids using a drawing app to make it easier for me to draw.
First of all, I drew some gridlines as a guide for my drawing. Gridlines help us to get the proportions correctly. This is a basic outline of my drawing. I drew all around the drawing first so it will be easier for me to draw out the other parts in the correct proportions.
I added some basic details later.
This is the first layer of colour where I only added a single flat looking colour.
Here I added some darker colours to create some shadows.
I coloured her lips next because I thought she looked a little creepy with no other details. I used a few different colours ranging from red, pink and brown.
Then, I added some brown to her eyes and brows.
I added more details to her eyes. This time I used some black as well. I also coloured her nostrils. Finally I could see her face forming.
This is actually almost the same picture but it was taken on the second day of drawing in the sunlight. The only difference is that I added more reddish colours for face, eyelids and lips.
I added the rest of the colours and details to complete the drawing. I used blue and some green as well for highlighting purposes on the her hair.
The above is my drawing with all of the colours that I used to create it. Although it doesn't look exactly like the original, I think it is close enough and well I will also try it again in a better paper without blue grid boxes as that will be easier on the eyes. I didn't plan on using colours and just thought of making a simple sketch initially which is why I ended up creating the drawing this grid book.
I think it was not so bad for a first time. I will definitely draw more of similar artworks especially some of my favourite game characters and maybe some famous people that I admire as well. Thank you for dropping by and sending you hearts if you managed to finish reading my lengthy post. Have a great day and stay safe xx
