A picture of me giving one of my best smiles…

Before we say that she frowns, let’s have her reasons.
When I was much younger, I used to think that people who were meant to be great in life had to always keep a straight and serious face. We just had to show to the world that greatness was written on the face by not smiling or joking with anyone. Anything you had to say was straight to business.

With this, I grew up not really smiling a lot, but I have always been a happy soul. I thought that maybe people would take me for granted if I smiled a lot, or not think I was serious myself.

Just a few months into my teenage years, I began to smile like I had no problems at all. For the records, everyone has a problem, and I have mine. But they exist like they don’t because I have little to worry about--- my studies, career, and my future.

During this time, I had one person who constantly encouraged to put a smile on my face. It had gotten to the point of me having a hard face without me knowing. In fact, most times I just had a straight face unintentionally. It had become a part of me naturally.

With time, I began to smile at things that were funny, watched more skits to help me smile, and I began to talk with people.

Till now, people still tell me that I have a straight face. But is that me? Well, sometimes, I could do it on purpose, and at other times, it may just happen. But I am more conscious of who I am, what I want, and how to balance my facial expressions.

In addition, I came to know about the benefits of smiling as well:

  • I think smiling is not just to do anyone any favour, it’s to improve your health.
  • It reduces blood pressure.
  • It helps you stay positive.

Although I was told that it keeps off wrinkles, I think I interpret that to mean that smiling helps your muscles to work well and keep your face younger. I was actually told this so I would not look old at a younger age, funny what myths we heard as children.

Today, one of the free gifts I have for anyone is a smile. And when I smile, it comes from a happy place. Although smiles could also be faked, a good smile is what makes the heart happy.

Would like to invite @saintkelvin17, @josepha, and @noraandy to participate in this contest.

Thanks for reading through.

Yes smiling all the time makes us fresh and younger, I have seen alot of people who hardly smile and each time I get to discover their age range or actual age am always surprised because is lower than what I thought, they have grown to look older than their age and no longer young just because they hardly smile.

Happy new month dear and thanks for the invitation I think I participated few days ago.
