FAILING IN SCHOOLS AND MAYBE LIFE IS WHAT EVERY KID IS AT RISK OF IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS

And yet the truth is that it's a little of both columns. School boards are underfunded as the sectors and types of individuals put in power to run and delegate funds are individuals that do not value education. They seem to want to think they are way past that. And also delayed gratification is not just a must have skill and virtues that kids are struggling with. THe politicians are worse. They seem to struggle with anything that is not INSTANT RELIEF or INSTANT profit. It is not surprising they overlook anyone below them and treat each other like opposing bullies in the school yard.

Classrooms are overcrowded. Curriculums no longer cover basic organization and stress management, but instead focus solely on academic test performances. Teachers don't have the time or resources to address students' individual needs or learning styles. Children struggle and fall through the cracks. And other side is that the teaching profession is undervalued by the media and the general public. There are plenty of redneck jobs that pay more or illegal jobs that pay more. Teachers are viewed as poor people who take abuse from teenagers. Ask the average person if they want to be a teacher and they will say NO WAY.

Parents are cut out of the loop and attempts to work with the school to advocate for their struggling child are blocked. Blame is downloaded onto the students and with every challenge they are not equipped to meet, their self esteem takes a beating. And a lot of the time the extreme behaviour challenges is transpired from kids just wanting to protect their sense of self worth. They are too young to know any better yet and their image to others is their strongest value. And being seen as lazy rather than dumb is a preferred scenario. And if they want significan which is the most addictive need to all people of all ages. THey will act out and be the cool recalcitrant kid if they cannot get it through achievement.

I don't have a solution (other than more funding and smaller classes which isn't going to happen) but I can at least acknowledge that this cartoon over-simplifies the frustration felt by all parties. And I invite as many teachers, parents, students, and anyone that can bring perspective to this conversation to make a comment in the comments section and have another great discussion.

It's a sad truth. Our system isn't designed to benefit the people anymore. It's about the corporations and producing good employees not strong independent citizens.
And don't forget the government servants that have nothing to do with education wanting to ride the gravy train with their high salaries. Yes it is sad.... I feel education is not even about the kids anymore... Its about ass covering.... nepotism... job comfort of the education executives.... And most of all government agenda. I still teach and I still inspire.... Sometimes I feel like I am part of a system to destroy lives....
Hey can I ask a huge favour and get you to resteem this for me so I can carry on this discussion with more people that care about the little ones. That would be awesome. And If I have earned it.. a follow and an upvote would be awesome :)
I went to a school where I made more than the teachers, but when you have informed people you can't control them as easily. I do not at all think the flailing school system is by accident, hell look at how HS and College students that are informed are treated when an official is confronted by them.
I agree..... I would rather have informed students where they actually know what they are doing there. Not every kid is geared for academics... but the world is not all about academics. I so wish there are more courses that cater for the diverse talents out there. But no, most are stuck behind a row of desks doing what is most unnatural to them.... Of course they will act up..
Can you do me a huge favour and resteem this for me so I can reach a wider audience before it sinks into nowhere and never be seen again :) and if I have earned it, an upvote and a follow would be awesome :)
