New Year's Resolution for 2019: Use Cash Whenever, Wherever Possible

Good morning, everyone!
While chatting with @krnel in the comment section of a post, I got this seemingly simple idea. Why not swap my debit card purchases with cash purchases for 2019?
Local Businesses Support Other Local Businesses
Anyone who knows me knows that I am a firm believer of supporting small locally owned and operated businesses. I have worked for many and know the advantages over big corporations (but that is for another post). Of course, the fiat currency isn't perfect but it is what we have at the moment.
Not Paranoid but Prepared
What I am concerned about it when everything goes digital and we are traced for every single purchase we make. Privacy. What was that? I don't want to have that conversation, really.
I know.....I know....you don't have anything to hide. That isn't the point. My info isn't for sale (if I had it my way).
So, back to my main point: I plan on getting and using cash more for my transactions in 2019. This isn't a hard decision but an important one.
And Just a Passing Thought
If at the grocery store your card doesn't work (magnets can, or used to be able to accidentally remove info), or the computer networks go down (its happened to me as a cashier), or the grid goes down.....then what? Having some cash in hand seems like a great plan all around.
What's your New Year's Resolution?
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
I love using cash, especially at small businesses to save them merchant service fees. But recently I noticed a trend, even with small businesses, to prefer customers use a card. It must have to do with the added cost/burden of reconciling cash and taking it to the bank. I figure the added burden for a small business is greater than the fee, and for a larger business it is probably a wash. With that in mind, if a merchant prefers cash, I go that route.
Agreed. Cash is the way to go....until we invent another currency that isn't linked to the Federal Reserve, of course. I am all about bartering and trading, as well.
I always use cash when I can and if we don't use it we will lose it.
Agreed. I find it a little unsettling how quickly people move on to the newest technologies without questioning who really benefits.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year @manorvillemike!
Thanks, you to enjoy the holidays.
