Hillier Lake is located on the Recherche Islands of Western Australia. Hillier Lake has the uniqueness of having pink water that resembles the color of chewing gum.

This lake has an area of ​​600 meters long and is surrounded by sand and dense forest overgrown with eucalyptus trees. The uniqueness that makes its own attraction for local and foreign tourists.

No one knows for sure, why this lake is pink. One hypothesis says that the pink color of the lake is caused by microorganisms of Dunaliella salina and Halobacteria, but others say that the pink color is caused by red halophilic bacteria in high concentrated salts.
