THE DIARY GAME: TRACING MEMORIABLE EVENTS YEARS BACK - 002//BY @young-ancient
INTRODUCTION
Good day everyone. I remain @young~ancient and I welcome you all to my blog. Today's diary game 002 is titled THE JOYOUS FAMILY DAY. The joyous family day was my elder brother's wedding day, that day meant alot to every member of the family, it also brought everyone, both near and far together to celebrate with joy and love in the family.
Well, a wedding is a ceremony where two people are united in marriage. Most wedding ceremonies involve an exchange of marriage vows by a couple, presentation of a gift (offering, rings, symbolic item, flowers, money, dress), and a public proclamation of marriage by an authority figure or celebrant. source.
Weddings in wholeness(including event, people, drinks, food, gifts) is a well recognized and popularly celebrated event worldwide. The major purpose of marriage which is celebrated as wedding ceremony is for procreation as ordained by Almighty God(Genesis 2).
The universality of marriage within different societies and cultures is attributed to the many basic, social and personal functions for which it provides structure, such as sexual gratification and regulation, division of labour between the sexes, economic production and consumption, and satisfaction of personal needs for affection, status, and companionship. source
THE WEDDING CEREMONY
Dr. Raymond Inienger(my brother) and Mrs Dorcas Ayoo were traditionally sealed according to the Tiv tradition on the 4th day of August,2018. Their church wedding was scheduled on the 8th of December, 2018 and that was the joyous family day. That day was the most anticipated day for our family, all preparations were perfectly planned by my mum and sister-in-law for the upcoming wedding. The dresses for the maidens, groomsmen and family were set, the food, visitors and everything was set.
According to the wedding plan, the colours of the day were peach, mint green, white and oxblood. The groom's family and the bridal maidens worn peach colour while the bride's family worn mint green. The groom and his best man appeared in a lovely oxblood and black suit🤗. The bride worn her beautiful white gown and her chief bridesmaid in oxblood dress. It's wasn't only a lovely but also a beautiful and colourful day.
The church wedding was held at the St. Gabriel's church, Tyav which is situated at villa suites, Makurdi Benue State. It was sheduled at 10am. I was there early as well as the couple and the maidens because I was supposed to take first reading in the mass and I was also active in the choir singing for the wedding. About me taking the reading, my brother decided that with aunt Dorcas but the program was given to me on the day of the wedding eve. I was quite scared because I have never taken any reading in mass before and I had no time to practice how it's done before the next day which was the wedding day. Plus, I had a severe headache that same night. I decided to sleep early in my room and I left all the preparation outside to cool my head off. I then woke up around 4 am to rehearse. Thank God it's wasn't a long passage and at mass, I read perfectly well and that was done.
It got to the point of making wedding vows (my favorite part). Oh God🤗 it's was a wonderful exchange of vows between the couple. It's literally got the youths in the shouting oooo. It was really nice. From that moment I imagine how my own wedding vows too would be🤭.
Thereafter it went to the photo snapping aspect ( photos will be beautifully displayed in photospeaks). From there, it was time to go the reception event centre, we arrived there and the place was beautifully decorated. Spent the whole day with my dear friend, Dorathy(of blessed memory), she was my makeup artist too for the day. We spent hours dancing, gifting, jokes, couple games, food, drinks and so on. It was super fun.
The most exciting moment for me is the next day, Sunday (Thanksgiving day). After the Thanksgiving mass which everybody attended, the family members and few friends had a party at home. I so loved the togetherness and love we shared in the family after a long time. We all ate alot(I nearly had stomach upset that day), gist and games. Later on in the evening, I went out with my childhood friends who also came around for the wedding. We went to Steamfast Restaurant and we had ice cream and meat pie 🤗. When we were done, we left to our various destinations. So that was how the JOYOUS FAMILY DAY went for me.
