SEC17/W2| While making decisions, what do you prefer to follow: heart or mind?

Introduction

One cannot do without the other. No matter how hard you try to remove the mind and heart to perform on their own, they can't. When it comes to decision-making the constant battle between which you should follow is strong. One art of you is giving you reasons why you should follow your heart while your mind might be playing the devil's advocate why you shouldn't go ahead with your plan.

What is your preference while making decisions, heart or mind?

The heart embodies our emotions, intuition, and values. It's the one that bring you the most fulfillment knowing that your desires and passions made it happen. Listening to our heart can lead to making decisions that are authentic and fully satisfied.

The mind embodies being logical in your reasoning and decision making. It calls for critical and objective thinking before taking a final decision.

As a student who graduate high school, I was happy to take the next step to entering the university.

In secondary school, I was good at Maths to the delight of my Mom. She was an account and wanted me to also study Accounting in school. At the time, she was logical in her thinking, where I could work wouldn't be an issue and I had several resources at my disposal that would make the discipline easy for me to do. On my end, though I was good at Maths, I didn't want to become an Accountant but I would rather study Communication Arts which I told her. To her she felt I was making a mistake by studying something that may future could depend on. Then I didn't only follow my heart knowing that studying communication Arts is my passion, but I also used my mind by realistic about the various job opportunities the discipline can offer. I was ready to make it no matter what.

Do you think we need both in terms of making decisions? Describe reasons.

When it comes to making decisions, it's a tough call between the heart and the mind. Some would say follow your heart, others swear by using your mind.

But I ask, why not both?🤷

Depending on your heart alone to make decisions might sometimes lead you astray.

Using your heart means going with your emotions, your gut feeling, of damning the consequences and doing what truly excites you.

On the other hand, your mind is all logic and reasoning, you must weigh your options, analyzing facts and figures to make a rational choice.

A combination of both can produce the best results.

While your heart can lead to decisions that align with your passion and bring you fulfillment. Using your mind can help you weigh the pros and cons, with that you can foresee potential outcomes, and make a well-informed choice.

Are you an emotional or a practical person in real life?

I would say I'm a realist, a practical person that weights pros and cons. I evaluate risks, display before me facts and if the resources I have can make something work or not.

I as much as I love being logical, I also love taking certain decisions because I desire it. So the passion I feel towards it guides me. At this point, I'm not only looking at the pros and cons, I am also channeling my passion toward making it work at all cost, leaving no room for failure, and gaining fulfilment when it works.

Do you have any suggestions for youth which one they should follow in their day-to-day lives?

Both are good. Using your heart to work on something and achieve results will give you a maximum satisfaction, but then if after pushing in your effort and you get little to no results, it can be disheartening. That is why, I advise people to also use their brain, view things objectively without bias about what can or cannot work. This way, you can deal with whatever outcome you get.

Conclusion

No matter what you choose, choose it because you will get full satisfaction, either using your heart or your mind.

I invite @josepha, @inudi, and @toflex to participate in this contest.

¡Saludos amiga!🤗

Actually from my own case, I really prefer making decisions from the mind than from the heart because heart is much more emotional and most times when you are emotional, you might not make the right decisions

Yes, my dear you said right
