Next solution to global warming: Fake meat hamburgers!

in Sustainability Japan4 years ago

Have you ever thought that the hamburger you eat regularly, has the potential of reducing the effects of global warming?

Recent studies have shown that animal husbandry has a huge impact on the environment of the Earth. Consumption of animal food by stock raising causes greenhouse gas emissions due to the huge amount of water resources required for it. Moreover, the excretion of cattle and pigs releases greenhouse gases as well.

By replacing animal meat with an alternative hamburger, it will save 2,500 liters of water and reduce greenhouse gases equivalent to running a gasoline car for about 18km.

Next meats Co., Ltd. was one of the first to achieve that. This food-tech startup seriously considered the future of the global environment, took action and developed fake meat (alternative meat) that does not include animal meat. It recently released an alternative meat hamburger called “Next Burger 1.2” through crowdfunding site Makuake.

Through many years of experimentation and many failures, the company has been challenging to develop delicious meat substitutes from plants. As a result, they succeeded in creating fake meat with an exquisite combination of soybean and pea protein. After many trials and errors, they were able to create a meat-like essence without the use of additives. Accompanying the hamburger is a natural ingredient sauce that blends Salacia. Not only is the hamburger delicious, but it’s also very healthy.

Next meats Co., Ltd. believes that to improve the global environment and deal with the food crisis brought about by population growth, we need to reduce the intake of meat. The company continues to focus on R&D of plant-based substitute meat to provide a peaceful living condition for the future generation. Such innovations are ready to create a new lifestyle revolving around food. Are we consumers ready for the changes to come?
