Portrait Painting: Monochromatic Oil.

in #art7 years ago (edited)

  • Color used: titanium white, cadmium yellow and burnt umber.
  • Medium: linseed oil.
  • Brushes: various size of flat (synthetic)
  • Support: canvas.
  • Size: 20Wx16H inches.
  • Art by Zin Lim.

Traditional painters have used monochromatic painting as for underpainting of color layer. Painting with limited color palette is a fun study for me to focus on value concept and brush stroke. The next images are progressions of a portrait. You can see which principle I aim to apply and which color mix I use each stage.
