"I live in the Land of Fools". My shout out into the emptiness
This text is atypical for my blog. But I really want to write about my pain, my anger, and despair. Pain for my country, which I love very much. And the anger I feel for many of its citizens.
To the people who destroy and poison everything around them. They set on fire grass on their sites and neighborhoods in the 21st-century. They do not care about the terrible impact that fires have on nature. Especially in spring... They have nothing to do with the ecosystem they are destroying and the health of their children, parents, neighbors, their own health.
But I'm not just about that. Let's talk about coronavirus. What does total harsh quarantine mean for the country? Very bad consequences for the economy. Increasing unemployment, debt, crime, declining income, shrinking small and medium-sized businesses and the middle class. Do my fellow citizens understand what this means? I think not. Their brain has already shut down in the tenth word of this paragraph.
If the president has promised that there will be discounts or delays for utility bills, then you may not pay. Nobody asked themselves whether communal prices are the President's competence? Who really owns the companies that supply us with electricity and gas? Are these businesses subject to the President and his statements to the press? People who voted for the clown in the election do not ask themselves such questions. They live in their own world.
But I did not say about another very important aspect of hard quarantine. This is why it is being implemented in all countries - reducing the spread of the virus. This is the price paid by the country, its economy and each of us.
In Ukraine, the situation is different here as well. We all pay this price for nothing because there is no result. The overwhelming majority of people do not follow the rules, never did and aren't going to. This is a norm that has become a habit since childhood and has been implicitly passed on from parents and the environment. The city and region that started the spread of the coronavirus in Ukraine introduced hard quarantine almost a month ago. And it is still the undisputed leader in the number of diseases.
And this, I repeat, is far from the peak and the worst of times. Because of the upcoming weekend is Orthodox Easter here. More people will break the ban, and even more people will be at risk. Despite all the efforts and limitations of me, my friends and relatives. It's like one sane in an overcrowded madhouse.
Every day I make an effort to keep my motivation and not to get depressed. But it is getting harder each time ...
