A Spoonful of Organic Sugar Helps the.....

I love cooking with my family, its always a giant creation station explosion of energy.

Today was no different....it all started last night when I was inspired to make a lemon meringue pie (upon Finn's hinted request) with the lemons from one of our trees that survived the fire.

Day 21 of evacuacation.

It wasn't enough to have just one pie, my dad really wanted apple pie, and so it was. This morning the tornado of creative energy began.

He had been asking me for five years to show him how I make my pie and so I decided to teach him.

As pie master of the family I believed he was finally ready.

He chopped and chopped excited that he finally would learn the recipe to his favorite desert. By the time he had finished he was so proud of himself he had me take this picture.

Next my brother arrived from his house in town around noon and he was ready for breakfast so I gave him some of my yummy organic apple, pear, celery, carrot juice (in a kid's sippy cup of course).

We laughed and made a bunch of inside jokes my mom and dad didnt understand which made us laugh more. We bet on how many times they would change their minds about where we would sit for dinner...inside or outside....sun or shade....chairs or benches...

Then a few hours later my boys showed up from their dad's house and the fun began. We played cards, goofed around ate a big dinner of lasagne (we usually have stuffed shells but the delivery trucks didnt make it cuz of the fire).

My dad insisted on taking this pic of us, now Im glad I have it.

Needless to say my lemon meringue was the best I ever made! Finn said "this is f*king amazing!" And I said "hell yeah!"
My brother told the boys "you can only swear as long as it's to compliment your mother's cooking."
