I follow Wes Watson on Youtube. If anyone checks this guy out you’ll quickly see he is not your average “social media influencer”! The guy is covered in tattoos and was in prison for a decade. He drops a lot of F-bombs. He doesn’t coddle you, he tells you what you need to hear, and I respect that. Its not what you say its how you say it!

One thing Wes is always harping on is your “program” or how you conduct yourself throughout the day, starting from waking up extra early. He preaches working out in the morning...not just for the physical results and health benefits, but for the mindset it puts you in. See, when you workout you release endorphins which literally have you thinking positively. This is one of the fundamental aspects of why exercise is so good for you! Your body responds to it by releasing the “feel good” hormones like serotonin. Its telling you that it liked what you just did there.

Wes always speaks a lot on how you have to get into the positive mental attitude (PMA) flow-state before you go about your tasks. If you’re trying to improve your life in any way it is almost impossible to get your best work done when you’re thinking negatively, especially about yourself.

It is best to get into this PMA early in the morning, after all, it will set the tone for the rest of your day. You know what they say about getting out of the wrong side of bed...once the carnage begins it tends to last for hours and can ruin an entire day.

So a few tips in the morning to set that positive tone:

  1. Drink a tall glass of water immediately upon waking up to get your body hydrated and set the digestive tract in order.

  2. Instead of checking the social media and smart phone garbage, read a good motivational book or do some sort of mindful activity like meditation or just breathing...or better yet a hard workout.

  3. Make sure you set your intentions for the day and review your goals. Program your mind to be set to go after what YOU want to do, or else you will be at the mercy of other people’s aims, which aren’t always in your interest.

Here is just a small taste of what can happen when you practice self-mastery, which is not only a prerequisite for success in any area of life but could also be said to be the point of life itself.
