Photography Award ABELARDO RODRÍGUEZ URDANETA
The Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode) and the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) summon Dominicans and foreigners legally residing in the country to participate in the Abelardo Rodríguez Urdaneta 2019 Photography Award, which aims to stimulate artists from the photographic art to use their creative talents to produce images worthy of display and recognition.
Bases
The reception of works begins from the date of publication of this call and will be closed at 4:00 p.m. November 29, 2019.
The participant must be a Dominican with an identity card or a foreigner with a minimum of five (5) years of legal residence in the Dominican Republic.
Each photographer may participate with a maximum of three (3) works in each category.
Each photograph must be presented glued to a white mat with a two-inch margin around the image so that it can be displayed without the need for pipes or glass. The contestant photographs must be unpublished, regardless of the year, they were taken. All photographs must be captured in the Dominican Republic. The following prizes will be awarded:

Photographs must be presented in digital format and printed on photographic paper no smaller than 16x20 inches and no larger than 20x24 inches and any intermediate format, in color or black and white, produced with the techniques that the artist prefers, whether they are analog or digital. The digital version must be larger than 8.5 x 11 inches, a resolution greater than 300 dpi, and, if they are in color, in CMYK mode.
Each photograph must have the category in which it participates and the pseudonym of the author written on the back. In addition, it must have an envelope closed by the author with the pseudonym written on the outside and inside the identification of the contestant: name, telephone number, and address, in addition to the pseudonym. Also inside the envelope should be a CD or USB with the digital photo.
Once the exhibition of contest is inaugurated, visitors will have the right to cast their votes for the image they consider to be the best. The winner of this Audience Award will receive recognition.
Funglode and GFDD will select the jury that will evaluate the competing works. This jury will be made up of three people of recognized authority in the field of photography and their judgment will be final. This jury may declare any award void if it considers it so. Only the photographs pre-selected by the jury will be exhibited at the Awards Ceremony. The jury will select the winning photographs which will add to the Dominican cultural heritage.
Funglode and GFDD reserve the exclusive right to use the award-winning photos and mentions, as graphic resources, in their printed and digital publications (books, notebooks, and magazines), always respecting the credit of their authors.
Authors of works that have won 3 prizes will not be able to enter the contest.
After the awards ceremony, the authors that are not winners must pick up their originals at the Funglode and GFDD offices within a period of forty-five (45) days. Otherwise, the photographs will be donated to a non-profit institution.
Participating in this contest implies rigorously accepting its bases and therefore accepting the verdict of the jury. Employees, collaborators, or donors of Funglode and GFDD may not participate.
Funglode and GFDD will handle the participating photographs with special care
but are not responsible for any damage or deterioration they may suffer during the reception and assembly process.The works must be delivered to the Funglode offices in Santo Domingo: Centro de Estudios de la Cultura de Funglode, Capitán Eugenio de Marchena street # 26, La Esperilla, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
The registration forms must be delivered stamped, dated with the day and time of delivery, and signed by the person who receives them at the reception of Funglode and GFDD.
The hours for the reception of works are from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on weekdays. The participant who is outside the Dominican territory is responsible for managing and paying for the shipping and removal of his works to and from the Funglode offices in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
The results of the award will be announced through a press conference in February 2020. The awards will be presented at a public event.
