A hike in the forest - My Actifit Report Card: January 15 2026

Another cool day down in the Prescott National Forest lands at Lynx Lake and creek.
The weather has warmed up a bit (above freezing in Cottonwood) but it was still frosty down at Lynx which sits a couple thousand feet higher in altitude.
Nevertheless Lulu was ready to roll and we started off from the southshore parking area and headed up along the creek.
It was a mix of smooth dirt trail interspersed with tougher sections of rocks that slowed me down (Lulu had no trouble of course). The sun was bright and the forest was so beautiful and there were plenty of scents for Lulu to check.
We covered a good 2+ miles before crossing over the shallow creek and heading back higher up on the hillsides under the tall pines before finishing up with almost 4 miles.
