Day of hiking - My Actifit Report Card: February 19 2026

My plan to hike up one Lynx Creek was short circuit by the icy and slick road down to the creek which made the route too dangerous. So we headed back to Lynx Lake to head out on 2 loops around the lake instead.
The higher altitude meant that the recent precipitation had fallen as snow which turned the forest into a beautiful scene.

Although the lake is only a couple of miles from the hills there was no real snow on the ground except for a few dusted areas in the shade so the path was dry and clear - perfect for a couple of miles of hiking on a chilly morning.

Although the weather was chilly the sun was bright and conditions were great for miles in the forest. Yet we were the only souls out on the lake trails today and had only the occasional wind through the trees and the noisy jays and woodpeckers for sounds.
Lulu loves this place so she was way out in front with an occasional stop to sniff or pee. The first part on the flat paved trail was smooth going and the dry conditions on the dirt trail section made for relatively relaxed hiking.

After our hike around the lake we headed for another hike up at Granite Basin around yet more familiar trails we have hiked many times while living in Prescott.

A little more snow here (the altitude gain effect again) bug the trail was clear if not a bit muddy in spots.

I had picked up a little jingle bell and one of the trailhead signs and together with Lulu's bell on her harness we were a musical pair as we jingle and tangled through the forest 🔔🔔.
Another couple of miles hiking so it was a great day even if we didn't get any gold and Lulu is a tired girl now, enjoying a good rest back home.
