My Actifit Report Card: April 13 2026
A nothing special sort of day to start the new week as we are close to our time to depart Arizona for the Black Hills of South Dakota.
At least I did a good deed by rescuing a stunned Gambels Quail that must have been clipped by a car as it was squatting by the side of the road. I placed it in the brush before continuing on my run but picked it up later after my run as it was still sitting in the open.
Just enough motivation and energy for a lackluster 5 km loop on the Blowout Trail under a patchy sky. My legs didn't have much pep so it was aslow trek through the trail. Thankfully the boring road stretch home was downhill so it mercifully was quicker.
Lulu and I headed down to the river later on for a quick hike as dark rain clouds began to roll in over Mingus Mountain. Not much activity there and we moved quickly as the cook wind picked up and it appeared as though the rain would start soon.
The Quail had perked up a bit when we returned but it will spend the overnight safe and warm in some blankets in my car. Hopefully it will be better tomorrow and be able to return to its natural home.
