Yes and no.
There's nothing wrong about compromising. The question is what to compromise on. If someone desires a loving relstiondhip but gives up on that in order to have a comfortable life then this is not appropriate. If, on the other hand, one compromises on the place of living then this is an act of trust and therefore appropriate.
